Should We Focus Less on Answers & More on Questions?


A recent HBR.org article reminded me how important it is that we take the time to challenge the questions we are asking in making strategic decisions. With business intelligence [BI] and artificial intelligence [AI] taking up a lot of headspace, there is a very big focus on ‘finding the answers’. But how much time do you spend finding the quetions?

According to the article, the five most important questions are:

  1. What are we doing today?
  2. Why are you doing the work we are doing? Why now?
  3. How does what we are doing today align with the bigger picture?
  4. What does success look like for us?
  5. What else could we do to achieve more, better, faster?
